Build-To-Specification services

CraitonTesting can build systems to your specification prior to performing logo testing.

Our Build To Specification service reduces cost and optimizes your time to market because you do not have to prepare and ship an actual testing sample. You also avoid potential import/export hassles. The project deliverables include everything that you need to have your specified system certified.

We will automatically screen your specification and notify you of issues that may prevent your ability to logo. We can also point towards possibilities that may reduce cost or increase customer value.

Alternatively, we can create a specification for you. For instance, you may wish to match a competitor's system in price and performance while having the guarantee that the system will pass logo testing and certification. Other customers choose our build to specification service to save import/export duties and expensive shipping costs.

We have contracts with the five largest wholesalers of computer components in Europe. This means we can build a sample system to your specifications at low cost. You will authorize us before we make any purchase. After testing is completed, we ship all components that you paid for. We recommend however that this hardware is kept on file for future events (such as retests or audits).

The Process

  1. Your business goals require a system configuration that meets specific requirements.
  2. You communicate the specifications for such a system to us, as well as various constraints you may have (brand availability and preference, for instance).
  3. CraitonTesting selects the components needed to build a system that complies with your specification. We will make sure we only match components that are logo compliant and are not known to be erroneous in combination with other hardware in the machine.
  4. You authorize CraitonTesting to purchase these components and build the system. Payment is sent by you at this time.
  5. CraitonTesting purchases the components and builds a system that conforms to the specifications and configures it for testing.
  6. CraitonTesting tests the hardware and follows a standard set of procedures to help you get the "Designed for Windows" logo.
  7. When testing is complete you will receive the standard deliverables, including the test results and assistance during submission. We also send an invoice for the test project at this time.
  8. When the system has been certified with the "Designed for Windows" logo, it is clear that the hardware is no longer needed by us. At this time we ship to you all the components we acquired per your authorization.

More information

When your product is certified with the "Designed for Windows" logo, your product may carry the logo sticker and you may advertise your product as "having the logo".

Remember that you are bound by the rules of the Windows Logo Program for Hardware and that you are obligated to comply with the agreements that you signed as part of the WHQL submission.

CraitonTesting acts as in a consulting role and acts in good faith, assuming that you will build the logo'd products using the same specifications that we used for testing.
The motherboard, BIOS version and CPU family must remain identical. The CPU speed may be the same or lower. Other internal components may be swapped with other WLP 2.x compliant components that you select from the Tested Product List (TPL).

At any time you wish to use a different motherboard revision, model or brand, a faster CPU or upgrade the BIOS, a retest is necessary and you are obligated to refresh the logo on your system by making an update submission to WHQL.

If you fail to refresh the logo in this case, you will lose Microsoft's permission to use the logo until you make a successful submission to WHQL and Microsoft grants the logo again.

All communication is confidential. We do not share project details with Microsoft or with any other third party.

Contact us via e-mail or let us call you back. One of our Account Managers will contact you and address your Build-to-Specification objectives.

We are looking forward to testing your hardware!
