Checklist to Logo your Hardware

This short page will give you a head start on how to prepare for WHQL certification.

For Device Manufactures

  • Design your hardware according to the Microsoft Windows Logo Program System and Device Requirements specification. To obtain the current requirements, click here.

For System Builders

  • Build your system with only WLP2.x logo'd components. All logo'd components are listed on Microsoft's Tested Product List (TPL) site.

We can screen your configuration before you send your hardware. Our records contain many components and combinations that we have tested previously. We can give you a good indication of whether your hardware is likely to pass.

For both device manufacturers and system builders ...

  • Go to the VeriSign website to get your VeriSign code signing ID.
This ID is required for submitting your product to the Windows Logo Program and to the Tested Product List (TPL) site, to ensure you are the rightful owner of the submitted product. Be sure to select the Microsoft Authenticode® digital ID product. Creation of the Verisign Authenticode Digital ID can take up to 10 business days.
  • Sign and fax our Master Testing Agreement. This is important. We will not begin testing until we have a signed copy on file.
  • Send us your hardware to us now.
While you wait for the Verisign ID we will start testing your product. The shipping address for sending your hardware will be selected and provided to you after we have accepted the project.
  • To be able to submit test results to Microsoft, create a Winqual account. Note: You require your Verisign Authenticode Digital ID.
  • Once you have a Winqual account you can sign the appropriate legal documents with Microsoft:

Designed for Microsoft Windows Logo License Agreement (Hardware)
    Test Driver Signing Agreement
Windows Hardware Quality Labs Testing Agreement
  • Using your Winqual account, send the test results to Microsoft WHQL . Detailed submission documentation will be provided to you. You will not be unsure where to fill-in all the requested information.
  • Microsoft evaluates the test results and grants you to use the logo for the tested hardware. Microsoft usually returns an answer within 48 hours.
  • We return the hardware .

If the project was prepaid, we will send back the hardware right away. Otherwise, we wait until payment is made before we send back your hardware. We suggest the hardware is kept here until the submission is passed, in case we have to do a retest.
